Hi, took possession of this carpet cleaner yesterday and have cleaned the carpets of several rooms. I'm not sure quite what I expected before I started but I'm not disappointed with the results so far.

The main series of sweeps across the carpet resulted in a more uniform look to the carpet - and no doubt somewhat brighter judging by the dirt suspended in the spent liquid. The various unsightly patches were not removed by this sweep though and I used the hand-held attachment (connected to the main unit with a pipe) to scrub at these until they too went. Some of the more "waxy" kind of blotches did not go so I'l have to try something else on these.

Despite vacuuming beforehand the process resulted in quite a lot of fibres clumping together mainly in the slot where the liquid get sucked up. This was easily removed at intervals. The carpet didn't suddenly become as thick as it once was, i.e. it remained fairly flat, so don't get your hopes up! I don't think this is unreasonable.

The carpets dried overnight.

My feeling is that I need to redo the clean at intervals to gradually improve the look. Also, scrubbing with the hand-tool did tend to thicken up the carpet once dry so, with some effort, great improvements could be made.

As far as the mechanics are concerned, it is fairly quick to swap between the main cleaner and the hand-held tool - just need to unplug the pipe and the quick-release liquid feed pipe. Obviously I cant know yet how long it will last before parts wear out or break.

Overall I'm happy with the thing and am very pleased I bought it. The trouble with renting is that you feel under time pressure and are reluctant to redo the carpet often enough because of the cost and effort involved in hiring a cleaner. It is quite nice feeling that I can clean carpets any time I like without all the usual hassle.

After reading many of the reviews I opted for this machine and have been very surprised and pleased with the cleaning results. Many reviews mentioned difficulty in assembly and poor instructions. For me this was simply not the case, the instructions are clear and easy to understand and I really cannot see how they could be made easier, they just need to be read and followed and in a matter of minutes the machine was assembled and ready for use.

As for the cleaning process again follow the instructions, I found that cleaning small areas at a time provided the best results, when sucking the water up after dispensing the cleaning fluid do this very slowly while drawing the machine backwards over the carpet. We were quite shocked at how dirty the water was (and our carpet would be considered as clean). One bedroom carpet had suffered from heavy traffic and for this I left the cleaning fluid for 5 minutes before vacuuming up and it was restored to almost new.

Through Amazon I have saved in excess of £70 with free delivery, however there were 2 nuts missing from the hardware package which i provided my own rather than the hassle of getting replacement bits, so somewhere in the processing of orders package contents need to be checked more thoroughly, this is not the first time such an issue has arisen and one that should not arise irrespective of cost.

As for the machine its great, easy to assemble, use, gives very good results and yes its very noisy so if your planning on holding a phone conversation while using it then perhaps you may need an alternative cleaner. Very Happy
