The 2X Dirt Lifter PowerBrushes with 12 rows of cleaning bristles do twice the work of single row deep cleaners whilst the unique, patented built in heater maintains the cleaning solution at the optimum temperature for maximum cleaning power. I am simply astounded by this product.

After owning two different Vax machines and being reasonably pleased with the results, when I came to buy a new machine I decided to try something from what appears to be the only other carpet cleaner maker, Bissell. Even though we had only cleaned the carpets two weeks earlier with the Vax machine (which finally packed up after just over 2 years of ownership), I thought I'd try my new toy on the carpets anyway.

I would not have believed it was possible to pull so much dirt out of a carpet that had only been washed a fortnight earlier. The water that came out was almost black, and when I emptied it out, there was a lot of fine grit in the water that the vax machine had clearly not managed to remove. The carpet pile also seemed thicker after I had finished, which I had never noticed with the Vax machine.

My carpet was dry in a little under 3 hours and the difference between the colour of carpets in the dining room and the living room is very noticeable.

In short, this is a fantastic product, and my only regret is that I stuck with Vax for so long.

We have had this machine for a couple of years now. Although quite expensive, it has saved us an absolute fortune in getting people in on a regular basis to clean carpets. I would say it does at least as good a job as a contractor would do.

The only operational drawback is that it is quite heavy to lug around, even more so if it is filled with water. If you are taking it upstairs definitely best to fill it when you get up there or separate the reservoir unit and carry it up separately. I did some carpets in a holiday cottage over the weekend, which tend to get very dirty with lots of traffic. Used the heavy carpet setting and they came up a treat, even one which was so bad we were considering replacing it. The hand held unit is particularly useful for localised staining as you can really scrub at it.

Tends to leave clumps of dirty fibrous material behind it which you have to pick up after it. The dirty water and these clumps really bring it home to you just how dirty domestic carpets can get and why they should be cleaned regularly.

We did have an initial problem in that the machine was not switching between the main unit and the hand held, but when it came back from Bissell it was fine and we have had no further problems so I have forgiven that one hiccup!
